The Living Room

The living room is often the most used room in the entire house. Because of this, it can be difficult to keep the room in order.

One easy way to start removing clutter is to add a wastebasket right in your living room. A small, sleek bin that matches the decorations of the room will help to eliminate trash that can gather in the living room and common area. The key is finding an option that will not stick out as an eyesore. Stainless steel and wicker wastebaskets can compliment a wide variety of interior design styles.

Papers and magazines are a major source of clutter around a household. They gather on flat surfaces like tabletops and often find themselves wedged between other miscellaneous objects. To solve this, find a filing system that works for your family’s mail and important papers, like a cubby or file cabinet, to store them nearby but out of the primary living areas. Rolling bins or storage cubes make a great addition to the living room and help keep items hidden.

When you have limited space, you have to get crafty using what you already have. Are you able to make use of the space behind your sofa? A small trunk or cabinet can be a great fit in this space and can be used to store items such as pillows or blankets for guests.

The Bedrooms

Since items tend to gather under the bed to begin with, why not convert the space under your bed into dedicated storage for your seasonal clothes you want to keep in easy reach? Rolling containers or small bins make a great fit for this area and will help keep the space organized while keeping your clothes free from dust. You can easily swap winter and warm-weather clothes as needed to keep from overcrowding your dressers and closets.

Closets are another area that quickly become cluttered, as they are an easy solution for holding random items that might not have a dedicated home. To fix this, use a shoe rack with multiple tiers or a small shelving unit under your closet racks to organize items and keep them off of the floor. This will open up floor space as well, which will make the closet and room as a whole seem much larger. Keep similar items grouped together if your closet is holding more than one kind of item (towels, spare linens, clothes, shoes, outerware, games, etc.).

A great way to add storage without compromising space in the bedroom is to take advantage of vertical storage. Something like a tall bookshelf adds a lot of space for storage without taking up much floor space.

The Kitchen

In the kitchen, many of the items you see out on the counter are items you are using fairly regularly. You can reduce visual clutter while still keeping equipment accessible by getting creative with ideas to hang your items instead of stacking them, such as making a pot and pan rack. By using a simple handrail and some “S” hooks from a hardware store, you can have your own pot rack. This will allow you easy access to cookware while keeping it out of the way and clearing up extra cabinet space.

Assess your spice cabinet situation, and dedicate time to reorganizing your system. One idea is to use uniform size glass jars to save on space. Create your own labels to match your decor, and you will have easy access and identification. Keep larger refill bottles tucked away, out of your primary spice cabinet area.

Consider adding storage in places like under the sink. Spots like this make a great location to store cleaning supplies, such as sprays, rags, and gloves. You can even mount some small hooks to the inside of the cabinet door under the sink. These hooks are useful for items like gloves and rags, since it not only keeps them out of the way, but also lets them hang up to dry.

The Bathroom

The first place to evaluate and try to clear in your bathroom is the counter tops. What items actually need to be front and center, and where might be better areas for keeping your extra objects? If hair supplies and personal care products are usually your biggest problem, a plastic tub under the sink (or multiple tubs) can keep items organized and separated. If you have existing cabinets or a closet in your bathroom, it is good practice to dedicate certain items to hold specific kinds of items, like medicine, extra toiletries, and papergoods.

Adding storage in the bathroom is as simple as installing a cabinet or trunk over the toilet. Furniture like this doesn’t take up any extra floor space and is a great spot to keep items such as toilet paper and towels.

Often times showers or baths can become messy from soap buildup and various bottles around the surface. A way to tackle this issue is to buy a shower caddy or small bin to store shampoo and soap. This will prevent the buildup that happens in showers while keeping items in arm’s reach. You can also easily organize your personal products from your other family members’.

The Garage

The garage can have so many different items in it that we can understand why many people put off organizing this area of their home. If you are working with limited space, one way to try to create more room in the garage is to use wall space. By installing racks or hooks for larger items, such as rakes, shovels, and other tools, you bring them off the ground, but still in eye’s view and in each reach.

You can do the same thing with ceiling space by adding platforms or hooks for storage. The ceiling is a great place to keep items like bikes or ladders that may be used less often. Make sure you properly secure hooks for the weights of the items you plan to store on them.

If you have a workbench in your garage, installing cabinets either next to it or above the work bench can keep the area clean and organized. Your tool box may move with you for different projects, but your home tools don’t need to get lost in the process.

The Playroom

Unfortunately, the makers of the mess in the play room aren’t always the ones who are able to clean it up. Use transparent storage bins for holding toys, so you can not only make finding toys easier, but the kids will also know where to put them away. Plastic containers are also easy to wipe down and disinfect in the event of a mess. You can also use other items from around the house like a hanging shoe organizer for stuffed animals or laundry bins for additional toy storage.

An efficient way to use space in a playroom is to have storage that doubles as furniture. This can be done through something like a window bench  or an ottoman with a lid for storage. This way kids can store their toys and either sit or play on the bench as well.

The facility offers 427 units across 60,000 square feet and three stories. Every unit is housed inside the building, protecting electronics, documents, clothing, and other temperature-sensitive belongings from Kentucky’s demanding seasonal climate and keeping each visit simple, regardless of the weather outside.

What distinguishes this location from conventional self storage is its full integration of NOKE smart access technology across the entire property, from exterior building door codes to individual units. Rather than relying on physical keys or access codes, NOKE equips every unit with a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock installed directly on the door. Tenants gain access to the facility and unlock their unit through a tap on their smartphone. The system also allows tenants to monitor entry into their units through a user-friendly app, keeping them connected to their storage space even when they’re nowhere near it.
